What started as an "oh no!" show turned out to be one of my best of the year. First, to get to Port Townsend I would normally take the ferry over, but ALAS, 2 days before the show they stop ferry service! So... off to stay at my parents' house on Thanksgiving evening as I drove around the Puget Sound to get to Port Townsend. Second, I start to set-up on Friday morning and discover that I forgot to pack my panels. MY PANELS! That's how I hang my artwork in my booth. OK. Improvise. I did, thanks to the help of my booth neighbor who let me hang on the back of his bamboo screens. Whew. Well, I'm looking a little shabbier than usual, but my booth is up, and I was able to somehow hang most of my artwork. After 2 weekends of so-so shows I didn't have high hopes. HOWEVER, as it turns out, Port Townsend was full of love, and I had a great and fun show. THANK YOU Port Townsend! I look forward to coming back next year... and taking the ferry!

I don't know WHAT I was thinking! At the last minute before my show this weekend, I had a strange feeling that I didn't sign up for my usual 10 x 10 booth size. I called up the festival director and asked... so, what size booth do I have tomorrow? Her reply?... 5 x 10. What the?!? OK, I set out to my front yard to figure out how best to manage a 5 x 10 foot space. I managed to squish my usual tent poles into a condenced form, and tada! Check it out - a tiny little alley of art! For Harry Potter fans, you'll appreciate this reference - as I was manning my booth (which everyone walked right by due to the tiny size) I felt like I was watching the muggles passing by diagon alley. Nobody even saw me. Too funny! Well, lessons learned...
1) Sign-up for 10x10!
2) If you do sign up for a 5x10 - don't put walls on both sides! (I think if people could see my one wall as they were approaching, they may have actually spotted me.)
3) Once again... why do I sign up for these 1 day sales! So much work for 1 day. I thought I learned that lesson last time - but some lessons take repeating!
4) As always, good sale or bad.. have FUN!
Well, back to getting ready for the next show - Concrete, WA for 1 day (yes, I don't think I'll ever learn the 1 day lesson) and the Allied Arts Holiday show in Bellingham, WA.
